Job description

Overview

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to offer transition training for active-duty service members. Eligible participants receive up to six months of on-the-job industry training, gaining professional experience and networking to prepare for civilian careers. Currently serving on active duty is required; this program is not for separated veterans.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test software components for aerospace systems.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues.
  • Write and maintain comprehensive code documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure code quality and adhere to standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support integration of software with hardware systems.
  • Participate in the development of software requirements and specifications.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • Active-duty military eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of software development experience (higher-level degree may substitute).
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, or Python.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications – Prefer
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with industry-standard languages: C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, Bash.
  • Experience with requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, artifact repositories, and automated build tools.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of data structures.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Hand/finger dexterity for coding and testing.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid environment and travel occasionally.
