Job description

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Data Lake Access team. In this role, you'll help build and maintain the cloud infrastructure that enables secure, unified access to data across Nasdaq. You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies, design robust access patterns, and create automation that supports data governance at scale.

You'll fit right in if you're a problem-solver who loves working with cloud infrastructure, values security and scalability, and enjoys collaborating across teams to deliver solutions that make a real impact.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement secure data access solutions using AWS services like Lake Formation, S3, Glue, Athena, and IAM.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and manage complex cloud environments.
  • Develop production-grade automation and services using Python or Java to support access management and data lifecycle operations.
  • Collaborate with AWS engineering, security teams, and internal architects to evolve multi-account cloud solutions.
  • Enable and onboard teams on new technologies, ensuring scalable and auditable data operations.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with AWS cloud services, particularly S3, Lambda, EMR, Lake Formation, Glue, Athena, and IAM.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Python or Java) with experience building production services.
  • Solid understanding of AWS networking and security concepts, including VPC design, security groups, and cross-account access patterns.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including secure access patterns.
  • AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Data Analytics Specialty.
  • Knowledge of AWS SageMaker or machine learning platforms in enterprise environments.

This position will be located in St. John's and Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
