WHO WE ARE:
We are looking for you to take the next step! The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking an Investigator I to join the UI Administration & Operational Support (UIA&OS) Department, to help provide Unemployment Insurance (UI) guidance and support to TWC staff across the state. The position will have an on-site work schedule at UI Administrative and Operational Support (Austin, Texas) reporting to the UI ID Fraud unit in Austin at 1411 Brazos Street. 

TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: 
This position performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) investigative work, involving conducting investigations of issues involving Identity Theft and customer eligibility for UI regular, disaster and extended benefits. Uses the UI Benefits System to review all claims for proper payment and conformance to state and federal regulations. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment to gather, research, investigate, research, and implement UI Regular and Special Claims procedures, programs, and services. 

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Conduct Investigations of alleged violations of laws, rules and regulations.
- Conduct background & personal history investigations, review public records & verify information for identification purposes or fraud.
- Utilize knowledge of UI and special claims to respond to telephone inquiries from claimants, employers, TWC departments and other states.
- Promptly answer calls from customers and assess the business nature of the call.
- Perform adjudication processes and adjudicate issues on separation and non-separation issues on UI regular, disaster and extended benefit claims with quality, courtesy and timeliness under limited supervision.
- Obtain all necessary information and offer rebuttal opportunities prior to issuing quality determinations; documents reason(s) for accepting one set of facts over another.
- Follow all ETA 301 and DOL adjudication guidelines for quality.
- Contact and interview witnesses and complainants.
- Review and maintain evidence for use in investigations to identify true owner of an ssn.
- Evaluate and summarize investigative findings.
- Prepare records, correspondence, reports and take recommended actions.
- Prepare and present information when appropriate for supervisory review.
- Collect evidence for audits, inspections or studies.
- Adhere to telephone schedule and strict deadlines.
- Serve our customers, other staff, groups, and situations with quality and timely customer service in accordance with TWC's mission, vision, and philosophy. Adheres to all TWC and UI rules, regulations and policies. Security Sensitive position.
- Perform related work as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- Six months of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling, or in theinstruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a publicor private enterprise.
-Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experiencequalifications for this position.
-Acceptance into a TWC Internship or TWC Apprenticeship will satisfy the minimum qualifications.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
- Recent experience with UI program and UI Benefits System.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Will work 40 hours a week during hours of operation Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT. Occasional overtime (evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be required. This position will report in person to the UIA&OS offices in Austin. Management will set the schedule. Duties require up to 5% travel (within the state of Texas) and the ability to lift 15 lbs.
