Job description

The Freedom Waterworks team is expanding! We are hiring Sales & Management Trainees to join our experienced team.  This is an 18–24-month training program where you will learn our business from the ground up.  The first phase of the program involves working in our shipping & receiving department where you learn the products we sell and the logistics of moving materials in and out of our business.  The second phase involves working as an assistant project manager learning our computer system and communicating by phone/email with our clients and vendors to handle order entry, submittals, and O&M manuals.  The final phase of training is served in the role of project manager who is solely responsible for ensuring the materials are delivered to our customers on time and within budget.

Summary/Objective:

The Sales & Management Trainee will serve as a facilitator to the sales process by managing projects via phone, email, other electronic communication, and occasional face to face meetings with general contractors in an office or on a jobsite.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the sales process through project management, tracking open sales orders, issue resolution, and overall customer service and support.
  • Maintains regular contact with general contractors to ensure that required materials are being delivered on time and within agreed upon price budget.
  • Coordinates with production teams, procurement, and shipping/receiving to ensure materials are built, ordered and delivered as per agreements with contractors.
  • Prospects for new sales opportunities via outbound calling and emailing.
  • Provides product pricing by consulting with estimation/procurement departments, vendor price lists & multipliers.
  • Procures and maintains inventory levels necessary to fulfill project requirements.
  • Works at the sales counter to serve in-store customers as assigned.  Contributes to add-on sales by maintaining a high level of product knowledge. Handles customer inquiries and problem resolution when an outside salesperson is not available.
  • Performs estimating, take-off, and proposal duties as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Exhibit a positive attitude with the willingness to learn and grow.
  • Be willing to be cross-trained with the understanding that working in a small business often requires wearing multiple hats.
  • Be personable and able to maintain good relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

Education and Experience:

  • This is an entry level position where previous experience in this type of role is beneficial, but not required. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable indoor area where there is frequent opportunity to move about.
  • The initial training requires the ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds and to climb ladders.
