Job Title: Diesel Mechanic / Technician
Location: Rockford, Illinois
Company: Interstate Power Systems

Interstate Power System’s is looking for a Diesel Mechanic/Technician(s) for our Rockford, Illinois location. We are currently seeking Diesel Mechanic/Technician(s) to join our team who are specializing in Freightliner, Detroit, Allison, Cummins, CAT products, MTU and more! We are offering highly competitive wages!

Diesel Technician Pay Range: $18.00-$45.00/hour D.O.E.

Diesel Mechanic/Technician Job Duties:

  • Responsible for repairing, maintaining diesel engines and diesel components used in various vehicles and diesel equipment.
  • Accurately and efficiently diagnose complex diesel engine conditions and make necessary repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, foreman, and service team regarding those repairs.
  • Quality control work performed to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Keep paperwork updated and handed in upon completion.
  • Meet requirements for certifications.

Diesel Mechanic/Technician Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's license (Bonus compensation for CDL holders)
  • Must possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude, and be reliable.
  • Must possess an excellent understanding of Detroit Diesel engines through the current GHG17 product.
  • Experience with other diesel engine platforms such as Cummins, CAT, & International are a plus.
  • Other mechanical skills desired but not essential: Hydraulics, Brakes & Suspension, Manual Transmissions, Drive Train, and Automatic Transmissions.

  • Technical degree or certification a plus.

Diesel Mechanic Desired Skills/Qualities:

  • Positive attitude and the ability to set goals and accomplish them.
  • The desire to take advantage of certification opportunities to have the most updated product training.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
