Precision Concrete Construction, Inc. (www.precision-concrete.com) constructs the most challenging concrete projects throughout the Southeast.

Founded in 1986, Precision Concrete operates on a diverse set of projects throughout the construction industry. Projects cover market sectors such as retail, healthcare, entertainment, institutional, airport, heavy industrial and multifamily.

Position Summary

During this internship you will be exposed to multiple areas in the concrete construction field. You will have the opportunity to assist our Estimators with the preparation of estimates and formal proposals to bid. Assist the Project Managers in the daily administrative/project management functions of select projects. Visit jobsites and experience day to day challenges of the construction industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist estimators with day-to-day activities.
  • Assist in monitoring construction through administrative direction of project manager/senior project manager.
  • Assist in obtaining material supplier and subcontractor quotations as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate quantity survey for work scope
  • Assist in proposal presentations to clients.
  • Participate in project hand-off meetings
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring all submittals and shop drawings
  • Assist in performing frequent job-cost analysis, cost projections and provides cost reports
  • Assist or perform quality control inspections in accordance with project procedures, requirements.
  • Assist in processing and reviewing all changes, requests for information and other applicable correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain good communication with Client.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings. Take project meeting minutes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain project files and record documents.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by estimators and project manager.

EDUCATION: A minimum of two years of successful completion of college courses in a construction related degree

SKILLS: Strong communication skills. understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities; capable of assisting in making decisions and recommendations that can greatly impact corporate relationship with Client as well as profitability of projects, which are managed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Must be able to operate computer and other office equipment, calculator, document reproducing equipment and communications equipment. Position also requires a valid driver license and must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and a normal range of hearing and vision. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires working outdoors with light to moderate physical exertion.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making business decisions. Must be able to communicate, orally and written, in a professional manner. Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills. Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasionally called upon to work overtime or odd schedules. Works in typical office setting a majority of the time with brief periods spent outdoors. May require occasional travel.
