This role performs professional accounting work in the classification, analysis, and reporting of financial data for key programs including Mental Health, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Drug & Alcohol, Early Intervention, Human Services Administration, Adult and Family Services, HealthChoices, Medical Assistance Transportation, and Children & Youth Services.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is responsible for assisting with the fiscal management of various Delaware County Human Services programs. Work also includes assisting fiscal personnel with revenue and expense accounts and provider identification in the computerized accounting system and Single Audit Supplement. As an Accountant 1, you will perform the following duties:


  • Audit Assistance: Help fiscal personnel prepare documents for external audits and perform internal program audits
  • Contract Support: Participate in the development and monitoring of service contracts as well as the monitoring and auditing of contracted providers
  • Expense Reviews: Assist with the reconciliation and monitoring of expenses, revenues, and accounts receivables, as well as the review of employee expenditure requests, vendor and provider invoices submitted for payment
  • Report Preparation: Help fiscal personnel prepare reports for submission to multiple funding sources and prepare the Schedule of Existing Federal Awards
  • Fiscal Compliance: Ensure all work performed and reviewed complies with contractual agreements, county procedures, and regulatory requirements


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting; or
  • One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
