Job description

Purpose

To support the delivery of Financial Advisory Services in the district by helping to service existing FAS member relationships, assisting members with basic financial empowerment initiatives, and helping to introduce members to FAS solutions and products.

Dimension

This person serves as an entry-level FAS employee and helps improve the efficiency of the district by assisting with tasks that do not require licensing other than life insurance. However, this employee will ideally be interested in attaining licensing in the future as the needs of the district evolve and additional licensed representatives are needed.

Duties

  • Determines member life insurance and annuity needs and delivers solutions accordingly.

  • Develops a good understanding of all FAS solutions to coordinate and engage with specialists as needed to ensure member needs are being met holistically.

  • Delivers training on FAS solutions to branch staff to aid in both improving the quality of member referrals to FAS and educating employees on how FAS solutions can help improve their own financial wellbeing.

  • Effectively works referrals to ensure members are connected with a qualified FAS employee.

  • Assists licensed investment representatives with making annual review calls and other responsibilities that do not require investment licensing.

  • Assists trust representatives with maintaining the EPE calendar and following up with members as needed.

  • Participates in community involvement events as organized by the DM (i.e. promotional presentations, member appreciation events, educational sessions, etc.)

  • Frequently communicates with the FAS DM about activities and results within assigned area.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have or quickly obtain life insurance licensing

  • Some experience in the credit union or financial services industry is preferred.

  • 2+ years' experience in a support role required for FAS Representative level. (No experience required for Associate FAS Representative level.)

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Must possess an aptitude for meeting people, developing member confidence, respect of members and co-workers, trust of Credit Union.

  • Must be able to quickly adapt to changes in daily work based on immediate needs.

  • Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.

  • Be discreet in performance of duties and hold information about member accounts in strict confidence.

  • Work additional hours when necessary to execute responsibilities.

  • Must complete training, modules and education as directed by management.

  • Must be able to speak English fluently.

  • Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.

  • Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.

  • Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.

  • Regional travel required. Must possess vehicle and valid driver's license.

Job Environment

Office setting with physical proximity to other employees.

Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Some aspects of job will be performed at off-site premises.

Physical Demands

Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Sits 50%, walk 25%, and stands 25% of the time.

Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.

Must be able to comprehend phone calls.

Must be able to communicate clearly in answering members questions.

Must listen well to ascertain the services needed by each member.

Climbing stairs may be necessary in branches that are housed on more than one floor. Visual acuity is required to complete necessary documentation

Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
