Job description

Location: Northwest Houston (77095)
Pay Range: $20 - $25 (DOE)

Job Summary

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to serve as a Quality Control (QC) resource for coatings operation. In this role, you will perform standardized testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure every coating meets specification before release. This is a hands-on lab position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment ideal for someone who enjoys precision work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine QC tests on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished coating products
  • Operate and maintain wet-lab and instrumentation used for viscosity, pH, density/specific gravity, gloss, color, adhesion, dry time, film thickness, and other coatings-relevant properties
  • Identify and report out-of-specification (OOS) results; initiate hold procedures and support root-cause investigations with Production and QC leadership
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment; ensure proper housekeeping and safety compliance in the lab area

Qualifications

  • Experience in a QC lab, coatings/paints, chemicals, or related manufacturing environment preferred (entry-level candidates with strong lab fundamentals will be considered)
  • Familiarity with standard coatings test methods (ASTM D, ISO) is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and basic data entry/LIMS systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data accuracy
  • Strong math skills (ratios)
