Job description

Position Summary (Onsite only)
Eye Care Specialists is a busy multi-specialty ophthalmology practice with 7 physicians and 3 locations in Norwood and Norfolk. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medical Biller / Charge Entry and A/R Specialist to join our healthcare team.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately enter medical charges and diagnoses into the practice management system
  • Review encounters for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist with claim corrections and billing discrepancies as needed
  • Work closely with Management and billing staff to ensure proper documentation
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, coding updates, and billing processes
  • Help support efficient workflow within the revenue cycle department
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations regarding billing practices
  • Receive patient claim data and submit insurance claims for visits and procedures performed
  • Work with insurance companies to monitor claims status, pursue and dispute claim denials, elevate claims to appeals, and/or seek all methods to resolve open claims

Minimum Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified in Medical Billing and Coding

Skills & Qualifications
  • Significant medical billing experience is a MUST
  • Minimum three years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable in a healthcare setting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
