Job Summary:
Smithfield Foods is an American food company with a leading position in packaged meats and fresh pork products. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to support critical programs and strategic initiatives across the organization, focusing on protecting the company's infrastructure, applications, and data.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments of industrial control systems (ICS) networks, systems, and components to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical controls to reduce risk and strengthen system resilience.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations such as NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, and IEC 61850.
• Design, configure, and implement protective technologies including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), and SIEM platforms to defend against cyber threats.
• Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessments of ICS environments to identify weaknesses and implement timely remediation.
• Provide training and technical guidance to engineers and operators on cybersecurity best practices to improve awareness and compliance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to embed cybersecurity into the design, development, and deployment of new ICS systems and components.
• Participate in incident response activities, analyzing and mitigating threats to quickly restore secure and stable operations.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience in OT cybersecurity, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud security, including deployment, monitoring, and protection technologies.
• Proven expertise in endpoint protection solutions, advanced email threat protection, and forensic investigation/remediation.
• Strong background in Windows Active Directory security and administration.
• Experience managing Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and implementing network-level protections against evolving cyber threats.
• Skilled in analyzing and interpreting log data using security analytics tools to detect and respond to potential incidents.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Respectful, approachable, and team-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while building strong working relationships.
