An entry-level hazmat truck driver, you haul materials over long or short distances. You follow applicable traffic laws, load and secure cargo, and transport potentially hazardous materials. Your responsibilities include maintaining relevant paperwork for each shipment you haul, performing pre- and post-trip inspections on your vehicle, and reporting any mechanical issues to your company. You receive instructions from a company dispatcher and over the radio while operating your vehicle. As an entry-level hazmat truck driver, you may carry specialized equipment to handle hazardous materials cleanup duties, such as containing chemical waste. You may work for construction, delivery, and other companies.
