Location: Habitat for Humanity ReStores – Charlotte Metro Area
Pay Rate: $17.50/hour
Schedule: Part Time; flexible weekdays, weekends and certain holidays required

Position Summary

The Sales Associate is a frontline representative of the ReStore, responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and creating a positive shopping experience. This role involves assisting customers with product inquiries, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, restocking merchandise, and supporting the overall efficiency of daily retail operations. The Sales Associate plays a vital role in promoting the ReStore’s mission by ensuring a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for all shoppers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead cashier, processing all customer transactions quickly and accurately using the POS system
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and follow all cash handling procedures
  • Greet customers warmly and assist with questions, purchases, and general inquiries
  • Promote positive customer experience at the register and throughout the sales floor
  • Support merchandising efforts by pricing, stocking, and organizing products as needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization at the front end and throughout the store
  • Assist customers with loading purchases, with occasional lifting of heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
  • Follow all store safety, operational, and customer service policies
  • Actively represent and promote the mission and values of Habitat Charlotte Region

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to customer service and transaction accuracy
  • Ability to handle cash and operate a POS system confidently
  • Friendly, helpful attitude with strong communication skills
  • Able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and punctual

  • Flexible availability, including weekends

Work Environment

This role is active and physical, involving frequent standing, lifting, and working in both retail and donation/warehouse spaces. It also includes regular interaction with a diverse customer base, donors, volunteers, and staff.

Work Environment

This position requires working indoors in a retail setting, outdoors in all types of weather, and in warehouse settings with or without climate control.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move merchandise throughout the store
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, 70 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Estimated Time Commitment

Average of 40 hours per week. Shifts may begin as early as 9:30AM and end as late as 7:30PM, as scheduled by supervisor.
