Job description

The Tropical Plant Technician will specialize in the care and maintenance of tropical foliage and flowering plants at offices across Chicago suburbs and also sometimes in the city, working with a variety of mixed tropical species. This role requires an individual contributor who is physically active and capable of managing plant health through soil preparation, pest control, and regular monitoring. The technician will frequently use manual gardening tools and must own a reliable vehicle to perform duties effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Care for tropical foliage and flowering plants
  • Conduct pest control to protect plant health
  • Prepare soil for planting and maintenance
  • Monitor plant health regularly to identify issues
  • Operate manual gardening tools safely and efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ownership of a reliable vehicle (mileage checks are provided monthly to compensate for fuel and wear and tear).
