They typically work under the supervision of senior designers and animators, helping with tasks like designing characters, backgrounds, storyboards, and motion graphics. Their responsibilities often include using graphic design software, collaborating with creative teams, and revising designs based on feedback. This role is a great starting point for building skills in both graphic design and animation within a professional environment.

Job description

Contract Graphic Designer — Brochures, Technical Illustration & Digital Content
Corrocoat USA | Jacksonville, FL (remote-friendly contract)
About Corrocoat USA
Corrocoat USA manufactures and applies high-performance glass flake reinforced polymer coatings that protect industrial assets from aggressive corrosion. From our plant in Jacksonville, Florida, we supply coatings, support contractor partners, and deliver turnkey lining and coating work for tanks, pipes, pumps, structural steel, and concrete in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical, marine, and heavy industry. Our work is technical, visual, and often hard to explain without a clear drawing or short animation. We need a designer who can make that work look precise, credible, and easy to understand.
The role
This is a contract engagement, not a full-time hire. Work will be scoped in two ways:
  • Hourly work against a pre-agreed rate for ongoing or smaller requests (social posts, revisions, one-off diagrams, campaign support).
  • Lump-sum pricing for defined projects (a brochure, a technical illustration package, a short explainer animation, a trade-show set).
Volume will vary. Some months will be light; others will cluster around product launches, bids, events, or campaign windows. You will work directly with the Director of Corrocoat USA / Marketing.
What you will create

  • Product and capability brochures, sell sheets, case-study layouts, and trade-show materials that stay on brand and stay technically accurate.
  • Technical sketches and cross sections: coating-layer build-ups, tank and vessel linings, pipe sections, pump internals, structural-steel details, application sequences, and before/after or cutaway views. These must be clean enough for engineers and sales to use with customers.
  • Social media content for LinkedIn and other channels: static posts, carousels, simple motion graphics, and campaign templates that can be reused.
  • Short animated videos (typically 15–60 seconds): product explainers, process sequences, coating-system animations, and project highlight clips. You may work from existing site footage, photos, and technical notes.
You will take direction, raw photos, datasheets, and engineering input and turn them into finished, print-ready and web-ready files. Accuracy matters as much as polish. A pretty drawing that misrepresents film thickness, substrate, or application method is not usable.
What we are looking for

Required:
  • Strong portfolio showing both brand/marketing design and technical or industrial illustration (cross sections, exploded views, process diagrams, or similar).
  • Expert-level Adobe Illustrator and InDesign; solid Photoshop.
  • Ability to produce short motion work in After Effects and/or Premiere (or equivalent).
  • Experience designing for B2B industrial, manufacturing, engineering, coatings, oil and gas, or a similarly technical sector.
  • Comfort working from rough sketches, photos, product data sheets, and verbal briefings.
  • Clean file hygiene: layered source files, print specs, web exports, and version control.
  • Reliable communication, realistic estimates, and the ability to quote both hourly and project-based work.
  • Availability for scheduled calls during U.S. Eastern Time.
Preferred:
  • Experience illustrating coatings, composites, linings, mechanical equipment, or plant assets.
  • Ability to interpret simple engineering drawings or work with a technical reviewer without needing every line redrawn.
  • Motion work that can explain a process without looking like a consumer ad.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn-native formats and basic content systems (Canva is fine as a delivery tool; it should not be the only tool).
Engagement terms

  • Independent contractor. You invoice Corrocoat USA.
  • Hourly rate agreed in advance for open-ended or revision-heavy work.
  • Lump-sum quotes required for scoped projects, with deliverables, rounds of revision, and file formats stated in writing before work starts.
  • All finished work and working files created for Corrocoat USA are work product of Corrocoat USA.
  • No guaranteed minimum hours. We will give as much forward visibility as the calendar allows.
Corrocoat USA is an equal opportunity company. We hire contractors based on skill, reliability, and fit for the work.
