Structural Bridge Graduate EIT (2)
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars' Dallas office has a great opportunity for a Structural (Bridge) Graduate Engineer-in-Training (EIT). This full-time structural position is within our transportation group and also provides the opportunity to support other disciplines on an as needed basis. HZ's portfolio includes major bridge and transportation structures across the country including specialty analysis and signature bridges. Our portfolio includes prestressed, post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced concrete structures as well as steel structures. The Graduate EIT will work directly with a Professional Engineer to develop professional technical expertise and knowledge necessary to fulfill the experience requirement for licensure as a Professional Engineer.

Duties:
  • Acquire an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Apply prescribed methods and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform tasks assigned by Professional Engineers.
  • Prepare calculations in accordance with applicable design codes by following standard engineering practices and procedures. within established guidelines.
  • Prepare design plans and develop quantity calculations.
  • Assist in preparation of project reports and/or design specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with presentations.
  • Interact and collaborate with others on project assignments.
  • Implement Huitt-Zollars' Quality Management Plans for project deliverables.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Recent grad to 4 years' experience.
  • Experience with relevant technology/software such as MicroStation, OpenBridge, RISA, STADD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) preferred.
  • Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
  • Experience in design and plan preparation of Transportation Structures preferred.

This position will office out of our Dallas, TX location in a 'Class A' office space including a state-of-the-art gym (no cost), covered parking, food court, and more.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • May be required drive to visit client or project sites for short periods of time
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
