Pay: $20+ per hour, paid weekly

Position Overview

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Entry-Level Behavior Technicians in a school-based setting. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to start a career in education, psychology, or behavioral health.

In this role, you will support students with behavioral challenges and special needs, helping them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. No prior certification is required—training and ongoing support are provided.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and behavioral challenges

Assist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) under the guidance of teachers and specialists

Use positive behavior strategies such as reinforcement, redirection, and encouragement

Help students develop social skills, emotional regulation, and coping strategies

Support students in staying engaged and participating in classroom activities

Assist with transitions throughout the school day (classroom changes, lunch, recess, etc.)

Track and document basic behavior observations and student progress

Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and behavioral support teams

Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

No prior experience required—experience working with children is a plus

Interest in working with students with special needs and behavioral challenges

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Patient, dependable, and eager to learn

Ability to remain calm and supportive in a variety of situations

Training & Support

Paid training provided, including introduction to behavioral support strategies and classroom techniques

Opportunity to pursue Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

Ongoing mentorship from experienced educators and behavioral specialists

Physical & Work Environment

Active role requiring standing, walking, and engaging with students throughout the day

May involve supporting students during behavioral challenges with guidance from trained staff

The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs and collaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable   
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
