Job description

Position Overview

APEX TK is seeking a Junior Action Officer to provide direct support to senior program leadership in a dynamic, mission-focused environment supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Huntsville, Alabama. This role shall enable leadership effectiveness through proactive coordination, program tracking, and executive-level communication support.

This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills who are looking to grow within program management, systems engineering, and federal program execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior program leadership by functioning as an XO/Chief of Staff-type role, ensuring priorities, actions, and communications are effectively managed
  • Coordinate, develop, and maintain executive-level briefings, reports, and slide decks for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of program meetings, technical reviews, and leadership engagements
  • Capture and track action items, decisions, and risks, ensuring timely follow-up and closure
  • Maintain program schedules, milestones, and deliverable tracking tools to support program execution and reporting
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to synchronize inputs for briefings, reports, and deliverables
  • Provide support in the development and maintenance of program documentation, dashboards, and status reports
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Program Management, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook), with emphasis on executive briefing development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for senior audiences
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Public Trust clearance (or ability to obtain) is required
Desired Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience supporting federal government or DoD/NASA programs
  • Familiarity with program controls, scheduling, or risk management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or similar)
  • Exposure to systems engineering or technical program environments
  • Experience supporting senior executives or leadership teams in a coordination or staff role
