we have an opening for a Mid-Level Web Designer HBITS-07-14827
DURATION: 24 Months
LOCATION: Albany, NY – Hybrid
Contract Web Designer to help modernize, manage, and enhance our EMS program’s public-facing web presence. This role combines web development, user experience (UX), accessibility compliance, and graphic support. You’ll work closely with program staff to ensure that content is well-organized, accessible, and easy for users to navigate and engage with.                
Qualifications
  • Web Designer- Produces and maintains websites, including web graphic design; interface design; authoring standardized code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search engine optimization.                                                            
  • Mid-Level- 36 - 60 months: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance.     
  • 36 months Experience with front-end development: content, layout, and design, on Drupal and static HTML websites                        
  • 24 months Experience with HTML5, Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, RegEx                       
  • 24 months Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser support                       
  • 24 months Experience with HTML forms                              
  • 24 months Experience with web accessibility: Accessible websites and documents (PDF, Word, videos), ARIA Attributes, WebAIM guidelines, Section 508 guidelines.                      
  • 24 months Experience with Adobe Photoshop, PaintShop Pro (or similar) for graphics         
  • 24 months Experience with Adobe Acrobat for accessible PDF creation and editing
  • 24 months Experience with Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager, and Looker Studio for metrics and dashboards                                                                                                   
Day-to-Day tasks                                     
  • Maintain and update the Bureau of EMS webpages on https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/ems/
  • Develop new pages and revise existing content using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Drupal and other tools
  • Streamline user access to forms, applications, regulatory documents, and educational materials
  • Improve website layout and navigation, ensuring mobile responsiveness and user accessibility
  • Create or update graphics and web elements to support visual clarity and professional appearance
  • Ensure all web content meets accessibility requirements (WCAG, Section 508)
  • Generate analytics reports using GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio
  • Create resource pages that provide links to other outside entities that would assist EMS agencies and agency leadership.
  • Work with internal teams to review, approve, and publish website updates.
  • Help to create a website that engages potential future EMS providers to join the profession and find resources on where to obtain training and become certified.
