Job description

GROUNDS CREW at Destination Geneva National
Join the Grounds team at Destination Geneva National, where your office is the great outdoors, golf is free, and you are finished working by lunchtime! This position is open to entry-level candidates looking to start a career in turfgrass, landscaping or horticulture. Experienced candidates are also welcome to apply. Pay is based on experience.
Currently we are looking for full- and part-time seasonal staff who can work August - October. Shifts are as follows: 5am-1pm (Monday-Friday) and 5am-9am (Saturday-Sunday). We are flexible regarding hours and offer weekend-only work as well. Most if not all work will be completed outdoors in all elements.
Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Mow greens, tees, fairways, rough as well as push mowing
  • Maintain bunkers (rake daily, pull weeds, edge)
  • Whip weeds and edge trees, signs, rock walls, etc.
  • Mulch, plant, prep and maintain flower beds
  • Set up courses and prep for golf tournaments
  • Water plants, flowers, greens, and tees
  • Fertilize and apply herbicides
  • Operate daily power equipment and machines (e.g., carts, mowers, hand tools, power tools)
  • Repair ball marks and divots on tee boxes and greens
  • Availability to work most of the summer holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day a plus.
Requirements
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the visual integrity of the golf course and resort grounds.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and superiors.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with operating landscaping equipment is a plus.
  • A passion for the outdoors and an appreciation for the game of golf is a bonus.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and/or walk for hours at a time
  • Bend, stoop, dig, shovel (when planting/maintaining grounds)
  • Lift amp; carry moderate to heavy loads (e.g., mulch, sand, tools)
  • Repetitive push and pull (when operating machinery or raking)
