Job Purpose
The Greenskeeper is responsible for maintaining the golf course to ensure exceptional playing conditions. This role performs daily grounds maintenance, supports course presentation, and helps provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for golfers.
Responsibilities
  • Mow and maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other landscaped areas using specialized turf equipment.
  • Rake, edge, repair, and maintain bunkers.
  • Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and basic repairs.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf treatments as directed and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Set up the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and special events, including placing flags, tee markers, ropes, and signage.
  • Repair divots, ball marks, worn turf, drainage issues, and other course conditions.
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Remove debris and maintain the overall appearance of the golf course and surrounding grounds.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical handling, and workplace hazards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Superintendent and maintenance team to maintain daily course conditions.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous golf course, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related outdoor maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn specialized turf maintenance equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and turf maintenance practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation and chemical handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements
  • Perform routine golf course maintenance, including mowing, bunker maintenance, irrigation support, course setup, and general grounds care.
  • Safely operate golf course equipment, utility vehicles, hand tools, and other maintenance machinery while following all safety procedures.
  • Inspect the course for maintenance, irrigation, equipment, or safety concerns and report or address issues as assigned.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to maintain course conditions and support daily operations, tournaments, and special events.
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment, noise, dust, chemicals, uneven terrain, and other conditions typical of golf course maintenance.
  • Maintain regular attendance and the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
