Job description

Job Summary:
SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars and is seeking a Data Engineer for the Starlink Growth Analytics & Automation Team. The role involves developing strategies and tools for assessing the health of the Starlink business and extracting insights from data to optimize customer acquisition.
Responsibilities:
• Build high-visibility, high-confidence, statistically-based dashboards and analytics tools to uncover new or breaking trends in customer growth or experience.
• Transform insights into action items for business and engineering teams, based on statistically-driven evidence.
• Develop and implement monitoring systems and strategies to quickly detect trends and regressions as they arise.
• Work closely with software and production teams to optimize user experience.
• Develop and validate models to forecast customer acquisition.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or a STEM discipline.
• 1+ years of professional experience building solutions with Python and SQL.
• 1+ years of professional experience with statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms.
• Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Preferred:
• 1+ years of professional experience in analytics, data science, or machine learning.
• Experience building predictive models and machine learning pipelines (clustering analysis, anomaly detection, survival analysis, time series models).
• Experience with data visualization skills, including experience in geospatial data representations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with developing and deploying tools used for data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
• Demonstrated capability to parse technical subjects on a deep level.
• Demonstrated ability to jump into ill-defined problem spaces and drive positive outcomes.
• Self-starter attitude, energy, and the ability to communicate effectively across business and technical disciplines.
• Experience designing and utilizing relational database (SQL).
• Background in statistics or computational physics.
