Position Summary The Part-time Athletic Assistant serves the important role of supervising City athletic activities so they run safely, smoothly and successfully for all involved. The Athletic Assistant's main goal is to promote a safe, clean park environment. The Athletic Assistant must exercise personal judgment and discretion in supervising activities based on established City policies, procedures, and schedules.
To that end, the Athletic Assistant's chief responsibilities are: supervising athletic events, patrolling park facilities, opening buildings, locking facilities, and ensuring proper use of all park facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilites The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Ensure that park rules and City ordinances are adhered to by park visitors Engage with park visitors, program providers, concessionaire, and volunteers to facilitate a pleasurable experience Work in conjunction with and communicate field and facility issues to park maintenance staff Assist with transitions between games/events, equipped with full knowledge the daily activity schedule Check trash receptacles and restrooms, picking up loose trash when needed Be available to work evening and weekend hours (when athletic activities might occur) Monitor weather events and ensure safety protocols are followed in case of storms, extreme heat, etc. Perform other duties as assigned Additional Functions: Assists Parks & Recreation staff as needed to carry out daily operations. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications Sixteen (16) years of age; Interest in youth athletics and recreation programming; education leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Parks/Recreation, Public Administration, Sports Management or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Additional Requirements: Valid State of Georgia Driver's License and a satisfactory motor vehicle.
At least 16 years of age. Interest in youth athletics and recreation programming. Ability to move around, walk for prolonged periods of time.
Preferred possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class "C") and a satisfactory motor vehicle record. CPR/First Aid/AED certification also preferred. Additional Information Leadership: Has guidelines for work but determines the approach.
