Software Engineer - Full Stack/Backend

Reframe Systems

Andover, MA โ€ข On-site

$150K - $190K/yr

Full-time

Posted 23 days ago

Job description

About Us
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build fast, cost-efficient, and climate-resilient homes for everyone. Through our modular building platform and highly automated production process, we reduce costs, shorten delivery times, and lower embodied carbon for housing projects of all sizes-from single-family homes to large multifamily developments. Our first software-driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA) is just the beginning of our national expansion. Backed by leading venture capital firms in the industrial and construction sectors, we are transforming how homes are built.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a Software Engineer to design and build full-stack applications that support our manufacturing operations. You'll work with cloud-native services, data pipelines, IoT devices, and user interfaces to power our next-generation production environment. The ideal candidate can rapidly uncover product requirements in a dynamic start-up setting and craft scalable backend solutions. Join us for a unique opportunity to shape the future of software-defined manufacturing for industrialized construction.
Responsibilities
  • Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain production-quality software that supports manufacturing and operations teams.
  • Data Pipelines & Analysis: Build data collection workflows and create mission-critical dashboards that guide key decisions across the company.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with diverse teams to digitize and optimize manufacturing processes and shape our CAD-to-Fab pipeline.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Validate hypotheses through data-driven experimentation; document, summarize, and champion successful concepts.
  • Technology Exploration: Quickly learn new tools and frameworks, incorporating them to enhance productivity and system resilience.
  • Culture & Mentorship: Contribute to a culture of innovation, quality, and learning within our growing technology group.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready code at scale, under tight timelines.
  • Experience managing stakeholders-including users, customers, technical leaders, and senior management-to gather requirements, describe system designs, and influence product strategy.
  • Excellent full-stack software development skills in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript), databases, and containerized/cloud services (EC2, Lambda, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, especially data-centric applications (GraphQL exposure is a plus).
  • Proficiency in professional engineering best practices-code reviews, coding standards, source management, CI/CD, testing, and full software life cycle.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of collaborative teamwork.
  • Self-motivated and able to tackle problems independently.
Bonus
  • Experience delivering software systems that integrate software, human, and machine workflows (e.g., automated factories, modern e-commerce fulfillment centers).
  • Experience with discrete simulation of large systems and sim-to-real design patterns.
  • Familiarity with large-scale data pipelines and BI tools (Tableau, Grafana), as well as analytics development.
  • Experience implementing or leading PLM, ERP, or MES systems.

If you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We value a range of perspectives and experiences.
At this time, we are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
