Job description

The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for completing design efficiently using industry and organizational standards. They work with project leaders to complete conceptual designs, detailed designs, and associated documentation. An Electrical Engineer I executes simple design concepts independently and completes site visits with others.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Complete electrical design deliverables with supervision using designated tools and software while collaborating with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Apply design standards by reviewing best practices and past projects to ensure alignment with company and industry standards.
  • Build expertise in at least one design discipline with some cross-training to another discipline or Market Lane
  • Translate design concepts and standards into deliverables on projects.
  • Obtain qualifications for site visits by understanding safety and jobsite visit best practices.
  • Coordinate with project leaders to address and resolve design-related questions for smooth workflow.
  • Collects and distributes information needed to complete design by working with project leaders, clients, and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients and support the typical workflow within each discipline.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Gain practical experience with manufacturing or craft processes by engaging in field work and collaborating with onsite teams.
  • Actively participate in internal technical training to grow design skills.
  • Function as the lead designer on simple projects.


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field from a four-year ABET-accredited program is required. This is an entry-level position, and while 0-3 years of experience is preferred, a combination of relevant education and practical experience, including internships or co-op positions, will also be considered. Candidates must have knowledge of electrical terminology and components, electrical symbols, and the National Electric Code (NEC). Proficiency in drafting software is preferred. EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or a willingness to obtain it is a plus.

Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 25% of your time

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $70,000  to $88,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
