Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Velia Multiservices is partnering with an elite AI-forward startup to find a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Backend-Leaning) to join their founding engineering team in San Francisco.

This is not a maintenance role. This is a high-ownership opportunity for someone who wants to build core infrastructure, scale distributed systems, and help shape the future of AI-native products from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

Build and operate production-grade backend services and distributed systems on AWS or GCP
Architect scalable infrastructure with a focus on reliability, observability, security, and performance
Design data systems using vector databases, OLAP, SQL, NoSQL, caching, and search technologies
Own CI/CD pipelines, Terraform infrastructure, deployment systems, and production operations
Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting systems to maintain platform health at scale
Build comprehensive testing frameworks that simulate deployment and runtime failure scenarios
Work across the stack to ship complex features end-to-end in a fast execution environment

Who They're Looking For:

2+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong backend focus
Proven experience owning backend projects from concept to production independently
Full-stack capabilities with the ability to move quickly across systems and infrastructure
Experience working at a high-growth, VC-backed startup environment
Strong systems thinking with a deep understanding of scalability and reliability
AI-native mindset โ€” actively leveraging tools like Claude Code to dramatically improve development velocity
Builders with strong ownership mentality who thrive in ambiguity and move with urgency
