A full stack is the front and back end of an application. It is comprised of a computer system, a programming language, database software, and a computer server. As an entry-level full stack developer, your responsibilities consist of developing something on behalf of a client. In an entry-level full stack developer role, you may help build an SQL database, a JavaScript application, or a PHP database on a server. Your qualifications should include a general knowledge of every level of software development as well as one or more common programming languages such as HTML, CSS, Python, and SQL.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Java) technologies, supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL), version control systems like Git, and frameworks such as React or Express is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help you work collaboratively and adapt to changing project requirements. These skills and tools are vital for building, maintaining, and improving dynamic web applications in fast-paced development environments.

What are some common challenges Entry Level Full Stack Developers face when transitioning from academic projects to real-world applications?

Entry Level Full Stack Developers often find that real-world projects are more complex and less structured than academic assignments. They may encounter challenges such as working with legacy code, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and managing competing priorities within agile development cycles. Additionally, adapting to company-specific workflows, version control practices, and deployment processes can be initially overwhelming. However, these experiences provide valuable learning opportunities and quickly build practical, in-demand skills.

We focus on solving technically complex, high-impact engineering problems.

We are seeking additional high-caliber engineers to join our team. If you’re passionate about building impactful systems and solving challenging engineering problems, you’ll feel right at home here.

Why Join Us

· Work on cutting-edge technology and data-driven platforms

· Generous compensation including stock options, plus full medical, vision, and disability coverage

· Collaborative, high-performance engineering culture

· Modern R&D facility (14,000+ sq ft) in Houston

· Daily Team meals and a stocked kitchen provided

In this role you will:

· Promote our core robotics business through the development, deployment, and support of a data management and visualization platform

· Create software that provides geospatial visualizations of large-scale data collected from autonomous robotic missions

· Tackle complex technical requirements and deliver innovative, high-performance scalable solutions for large-scale data systems

· Build expertise in modern technologies and grow as a technical contributor with increasing ownership

· Collaborate with an interdisciplinary engineering team in a fast-moving, innovation-focused environment

· Work extensively with Python, Django, TypeScript, React/Redux/DeckGL, and PostgreSQL, as well as supporting tools and frameworks

· Follow production-grade engineering practices, including linting, type checking, automated testing, and peer reviews

What we’re looking for:

· Self-driven engineer capable of owning projects from concept through implementation

· Passion for growth and excellence in delivering high-quality, detail-oriented solutions

· Strong experience with Python/Django and JavaScript/TypeScript, especially in modern web application development

· Experience with React or similar frameworks for single-page applications

· Experience with PostgreSQL (or similar technologies)

· Experience with Git and strong software engineering best practices

· Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly

· BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience

Nice to haves:

· Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes

· Experience with cloud-based architectures and deployment (AWS or Azure)

· Experience with data pipelines and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow)

· Experience with CI/CD pipelines

· Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
