An entry-level front end web developer helps create the user interface and interactive aspects of a website. As an entry-level worker, you assist members of the web development team who program websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code. As a junior member of a web development team, your duties include testing site code or handling specific aspects of a design and development project. Your responsibilities often include preparing visual elements using code and image editing software such as Photoshop or InDesign. In addition to web sites, entry-level front end developers program and test mobile and web applications.
| Aspect | Entry Level Front End Web Developer | Junior Web Designer |
|---|---|---|
| Required Skills | HTML, CSS, JavaScript, basic coding | Design principles, Adobe Photoshop, UI/UX basics |
| Work Environment | Collaborates with developers and back-end teams | Focuses on visual design and layout |
| Common Industry Usage | Web development projects, coding tasks | Design projects, visual mockups |
While both roles are entry-level and involve web-related tasks, the Entry Level Front End Web Developer primarily focuses on coding and building functional websites, whereas the Junior Web Designer emphasizes visual design and user interface aesthetics. Understanding these differences helps clarify career paths and skill development in web industry roles.
