  • Pay: $18 per hour
  • Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, Night shifts, Holidays, and Weekends

Job overview

The Chief Engineer oversees and coordinates the maintenance staff's activities, ensuring all repairs, maintenance, and engineering tasks are completed efficiently. This role supports capital repair, and renovation projects and maintains the hotel's preventative maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Prioritize and complete maintenance requests from guests and team members.
    • Conduct daily, monthly, and quarterly preventative maintenance of the hotel and guest rooms.
    • Perform building and room repairs, including plumbing, painting, sheetrock work, and carpentry.
    • Maintain facility buildings and equipment, ensuring all tools and equipment are clean, lubricated, and stored properly.
  1. Team Coordination:
    • Oversee, coordinate, and assist the maintenance staff.
    • Schedule the team and assign tasks and projects to personnel.
    • Attend morning meetings to update the team on ongoing maintenance activities.
  1. Guest and Staff Interaction:
    • Always represent the hotel positively.
    • Drive guests in the hotel shuttle as needed.
    • Communicate with the General Manager to ensure all materials, tools, and supplies are available or on order.
    • Keep the General Manager and staff updated on assignments and maintenance issues.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
    • Handle emergencies to protect guests, associates, and hotel assets.
    • Maintain hotel emergency procedures, including coordinating fire drills and safety meetings.
    • Complete all work safely and professionally, adhering to the hotel's Standard Code of Conduct and other regulations.
  1. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain records of all work completed, ensuring data is accurate and work is profitable.
    • Support hotel engineering maintenance programs and execute daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  1. Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by the manager/ supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Previous maintenance experience is required.
  • Must present a proper uniform/dress and be well-groomed.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 hotel operation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100-300 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, move, handle objects, and maintain the facility.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
