Job description

IN-HOUSE SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER & CONTENT CREATOR
Full-Time | On-Site | Virginia Beach, Virginia

The Shoppes at Copper Mill Mercantile is looking for a talented, creative, and highly motivated Social Media Manager and Content Creator to become the in-house voice and visual storyteller for our new Virginia Beach location.

Our store is filled with an ever-changing mix of boutiques, gifts, home décor, fashion, antiques, vintage finds, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind merchandise from independent vendors. Because new inventory arrives and vendor displays change constantly, this is not a work-from-home or occasional-content position. We need someone who is excited to be inside the store, finding fresh stories, products, people, and experiences to share every day.

We are looking for someone who can create both sides of great social media:

• Fun, natural, trend-aware iPhone videos that feel current, spontaneous, and authentic
• Professional, polished content that strengthens the Copper Mill brand and presents the store as a premier Virginia Beach shopping destination

The ideal candidate may be one versatile person who can do both. However, we are also open to hiring two exceptional people with complementary talents—such as a highly engaging short-form content creator and a more experienced social media or digital marketing professional.

What You’ll Do

• Create frequent, original content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant platforms
• Film and edit Reels, short-form videos, product features, vendor spotlights, behind-the-scenes content, and store updates
• Produce polished promotional videos, photography, graphics, campaigns, and branded advertisements
• Walk the store regularly to discover new merchandise, refreshed booths, seasonal displays, and compelling stories
• Develop a consistent posting calendar while remaining flexible enough to capture exciting content in the moment
• Help build anticipation for special events, new vendors, seasonal promotions, and major store announcements
• Write engaging captions and promotional copy that sound natural and inviting
• Monitor performance and use results to improve reach, engagement, store awareness, and customer traffic
• Maintain a consistent brand image while keeping the content fresh, energetic, and relatable
• Work comfortably with vendors, employees, shoppers, and store leadership when creating content
• Help position Copper Mill as one of Coastal Virginia’s most exciting and memorable shopping destinations

We’d Love to Meet Someone Who

• Has a strong creative eye and knows what makes people stop scrolling
• Understands current social media trends without making every post feel forced or copied
• Can make an everyday iPhone video feel entertaining, appealing, and authentic
• Has experience producing polished photography, video, graphics, or advertising content
• Is comfortable filming, editing, appearing on camera when needed, and directing others
• Can work independently, take initiative, and consistently find new content opportunities
• Is organized enough to plan campaigns but creative enough to recognize an unplanned great moment
• Understands the difference between content that receives views and content that motivates people to visit and shop
• Has experience with platforms or tools such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs
• Is dependable, professional, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited about helping build something special

Retail, boutique, fashion, home décor, antiques, lifestyle, hospitality, or destination-marketing experience is a plus, but a strong portfolio, proven creativity, and an understanding of social media are more important than a specific degree.

Position Details

• Full-time, in-house position
• This position must be performed on-site at our Virginia Beach store
• Flexible availability is important, including some evenings, weekends, special events, and grand-opening activities
• Store hours are seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
• Compensation is competitive and will depend on experience, capabilities, portfolio quality, and availability
• We are open to considering one highly versatile candidate or two candidates with complementary skill sets
