Job description


POSITION SUMMARY
The Epic MyChart Application Analyst is a highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. The Epic MyChart System Analyst supports the functionality of the patient portal under the minimal supervision of a manager or director and according to established policy and procedures. The MyChart Analyst performs complex system analysis, design, integration, testing, implementation, maintenance and planning of assigned applications and/or projects. Directly interacts with assigned department managers and staff to provide automation services in support of the department's strategic and operational objectives. Plans, coordinates, develops and provides appropriate training for managers and users. Ensures development of training materials, production of continuity workbooks, documentation of standard operating procedures and user checklists. Assists in all upgrade/updates, NOVA note build, testing, and demos of new functionality. Serves as the contact and liaison with user community and vendor. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Mount Nittany Health. Participates in department and hospital task forces, focus groups and/or committees as assigned by their supervisor to meet the group objectives. Off-hours work and participation in on-call rotation are required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Epic Certifications in one or more Epic applications (required within 180 days of hire)

Experience:
  1. Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
  2. Ability to understand business requirements and their impact on technical solutions
  3. Ability to work in a complex environment to manage multiple concurrent communication needs
  4. Skill at tracking tasks, defining next steps, identifying owners, and holding others accountable
  5. Ability to coordinate activities and facilitate meetings involving multiple stakeholders, including vendors, subject matter experts, interface engine developers, and end users
  6. EHR Configuration and Build Experience
  7. 0-2 years of experience in the analysis, design, build, testing, and maintenance of Epic EMR or other EMR applications, with a strong understanding of healthcare workflows related to electronic medical record systems.
  8. Entry level. Primarily focuses on basic system configuration, data entry, user training, and troubleshooting simple issues, and has foundational knowledge of healthcare processes.

  1. Knowledge of system development methodology and principles of project management.
  2. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  3. Technical knowledge and understanding of clinical systems.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with staff.
  5. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Acting as the primary support contact for the application's end-users
  2. Identifying issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and working to resolve them
  3. Guiding workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic software
  4. Identifying and implementing requested changes to the system
  5. Serving as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff
  6. Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
  7. Working with Epic representatives, your organization's business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline
  8. Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions
  9. Participating in training and working with end users
  10. Troubleshooting problems and questions
  11. Reviewing the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership
