ERM is seeking a motivated and experienced Consultant, Environmental Scientist (Wetland Delineator) to join our Capital Project Development team in Houston, Texas. This role is designed for a professional who has progressed beyond entry-level fieldwork and is ready to apply deep technical expertise to complex environmental challenges. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary experts to deliver defensible science, support large-scale infrastructure and development projects, and help clients navigate permitting requirements while protecting critical wetland and water resources-advancing ERM's mission as a global sustainability leader.

What You'll Bring:Required
  • BA/BS or Master's degree in a natural science discipline. Or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience, including a minimum of two field seasons of wetland delineation.
  • Minimum of two (2) field seasons of wetland delineation experience using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable Regional Supplement(s), along with appropriate wetland delineation training or coursework.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regional Supplements (Arid West and Great Plains).
  • Ability to conduct extended fieldwork (up to 75% travel) in variable weather conditions and challenging terrain.
  • Working knowledge of sub-meter GPS technologies, field data collection, and map interpretation (NWI, USGS, aerial imagery).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing detailed technical reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
  • Prior experience supporting permitting applications and environmental constraints analyses.
  • Experience interacting directly with clients or supporting client-facing deliverables.
  • Local or regional familiarity with projects in Texas and surrounding areas.
  • Local candidates preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare permit applications for federal, state, and local environmental authorities
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements and maintain records and survey reports
  • Assist in developing technical project documents, including data tables, spreadsheets, and engineering calculations
  • Conduct wetland delineations using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and applicable Regional Supplements.
  • Document Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) indicators and geophysical characteristics of waterbodies.
  • Perform habitat assessments and environmental field surveys.
  • Collect, review, and manage field data using GPS and other data collection tools.
  • Compile wetland delineation reports and support permit application materials as requested.
  • Perform environmental constraints desktop analyses to support permitting efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts across technical disciplines.
  • Interact with clients and technical teams on environmental and biological topics.
  • Deliver work in alignment with ERM's quality, budget, schedule, and management system standards.
  • Conduct all field and office activities in compliance with ERM and client health and safety requirements.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support team and project success.
