Job Description:

At Concentric, the Analyst serves a critical role on project teams as the primary contributor of modeling, data analysis, and research tasks that are essential to a successful client engagement. Our clients come to us to help them solve a problem. Analysts work collaboratively with more senior colleagues to help create innovative solutions to solve these problems for our utility and energy clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research stocks and bonds for public utility companies.
  • Research trends and news within the utility industry, including filings, mergers and acquisitions, competitive position, and financial stability of organizations.
  • Utilize Excel and other quantitative software to analyze data.
  • Research and analyze capital markets and perform debt and equity analyses.
  • Create and utilize models within Excel.
  • Report on securities research to project managers.
  • Utilize Bloomberg terminal, S&P website, Lexis-Nexis and other sites to conduct appropriate research.
  • Write analyses, whitepapers, and other documentation from researched materials.
  • Work on various projects within the energy and utility space.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff on project work.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree required, ideally in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or Energy.
  • Must have a superior academic record a GPA of 3.5 or above is desired.
  • Previous relevant internships or 1-2 years work experience within finance, investments, math, economics, public policy, and regulation within the energy/utility industry. Consulting experience within energy/utilities highly desirable.
  • Strong quantitative skills and research skills, with the ability to synthesize the information accurately.
  • Strong writing skills with very good attention to detail, grammar, and spelling. Must be able to write extensive reports for clients including visualizations.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills with the ability to perform advanced functions including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, COUNTIF, pivot tables, financial modeling, regressions, forecasting, and the creation of charts and graphs.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Must be collegial and enjoy working in a team environment, and have the ability to also operate independently.
  • Must be highly detail oriented with strong follow-through and organizational skills.
  • Must prioritize workload while maintaining accuracy, consistency and confidentiality.

Additional Information:

The annual base salary for the Analyst role is $93,000 plus an annual incentive compensation bonus. Concentric also offers opportunities to participate in equity ownership.
