SUMMER 2027


Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

The Embedded Software Intern will assist with maintaining and developing our embedded audio platform firmware and USB based microphone and conferencing ecosystem. Additionally, the intern will help analyze field issues, work across divisions with systems engineering, DSP, and hardware engineering to develop new features and designs, and gain a deeper working knowledge of embedded systems.

This internship will be Hybrid, based in Niles, IL.


  • Intern will become familiar with the USB protocol stack and implementation
  • Intern will help develop new embedded audio platform functionality
  • Intern will help diagnose and root cause field issues/bugs
  • Intern will develop new features and update code in C/C++
  • Intern will develop scripts, testing frameworks, and utility code in C/Python
  • Intern will participate in code and requirements reviews
  • Intern will work with DSP, systems engineering, and hardware engineering teams as needed to facilitate development and understanding

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Must have experience programming in C/C++
  • Experience with Python and ARM assembly language a plus
  • Experience with communication protocols including USB, I2S, I2C, UART a plus
  • Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded hardware/microcontrollers a plus
  • Experience reading hardware schematics and product datasheets a plus
  • Recommended to have taken a lab based embedded design/robotics/programming course and have familiarity with programming and debugging microcontrollers
