Job Description
Solidigm is seeking talented and motivated graduate students for our Software, Firmware & AI Engineering Internships in the United States. This evergreen posting supports multiple internship opportunities across software development, firmware engineering, embedded systems, AI/ML, and SSD validation and debug.
As an intern, you will work on real engineering challenges supporting Solidigm's data center SSD products, internal engineering platforms, firmware development, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities.
This internship is ideal for graduate students who enjoy solving complex technical problems, working close to hardware, and applying software, firmware, and AI techniques to real-world engineering systems.
Key Responsibilities
Interns may be assigned one or more of the following responsibilities based on project needs, team priorities, and individual strengths:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software tools or infrastructure that support engineering workflows and product development.
  • Contribute to firmware features, embedded software, test environments, or debug workflows for SSD and storage-related technologies.
  • Apply machine learning, data analysis, or AI techniques to improve engineering productivity or validation efficiency.
  • Explore or implement AI-assisted tools and workflows that help automate engineering tasks.
  • Build automation frameworks and scripts to improve firmware testing and regression execution.
  • Support validation of software or firmware functionality; analyze failures and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Analyze test results, logs, and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional firmware, software, validation, and hardware teams; document tools and debug findings.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with a programming language such as Python, C, C++, or Java.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and version control (e.g., Git).
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with firmware development, embedded software, or low-level systems programming.
  • Familiarity with SSDs, NAND flash, NVMe, PCIe, or storage systems.
