THE POSITIONโ€ฆ

As a Software Certification Engineer, you will provide engineering and technical support in the evaluation and testing of existing and emerging technologies, systems, and capabilities. You will plan and implement the RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 lifecycle processes for avionics, power electronics, and battery systems. Youโ€™ll verify complex microcontroller and FPGA designs to achieve coverage of functional and structural aspects. Product areas include cockpit displays and instruments, local and remote sensing, data conversion and storage, lithium battery management, AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion up to 8000W, in-seat power solutions, and various other components needed in aircraft systems. To be successful in this role, youโ€™ll need to provide expert analysis to meet the highest level of safety and reliability, implementing safety-critical software design processes.

THIS POSITION MAY BE FOR YOU IFโ€ฆ

  • You have a bachelorโ€™s degree in computer engineering or related field
  • You have a minimum of one year of experience with RTCA DO-178C or similar safety-critical software design process.
  • You are proficient in C programming.
  • You have the ability to work directly with target hardware, including lab bench equipment and other tools for debugging and analysis.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • You have strong attention to detail.
  • You are organized, focused and results oriented.
  • You are a problem-solver with critical thinking and prioritizing skills.
  • You have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

WE WOULD REALLY LIKE IT IFโ€ฆ (but itโ€™s not a deal breaker)

  • You have experience with C#, or Python languages for a PC application software.
  • You have familiarity with VHDL and RTCA DO-254.
  • You have familiarity with formal coding standards and safety-critical design considerations.

  • Create and review design data within the software qualification lifecycle process. Practice safety-critical methods, create plans, requirements, design standards, coding standards, change tracking and verification, formal and functional verification
  • Test and troubleshoot prototype and certified code on target hardware. Includes working in a lab bench environment with the necessary test equipment
  • Design embedded software for microcontroller-based systems, as well as PC-based applications for verification and manufacturing
  • Support software design using current tools, design environments and documentation methods
  • Prototype and execute test programs to verify compliance with applicable performance, regulatory, and quality requirements
