Job description

Mantis Innovation provides managed facility services and turnkey program management with technology-enabled solutions that target the entire building footprint. We look at the entire facility—inside and out—and can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward, including: Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement, renewable energy, and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting, net zero strategies, and sustainability planning; roofing, solar, HVAC assessment management, pavement, building envelope, data center optimization, and EV charging; lighting/LED retrofits, HVAC/mechanical systems, and BMS/BAS improvements and implementation.

This role exists to build entry-level PLC/Ignition capability in the Umatilla, OR area to support Sabey data center projects and ongoing service work. It ensures projects stay on track by providing reliable field support while developing into an independent technician over time.  
OUTCOMES
  • Ramp into PLC/Ignition work within 90-120 days and contribute to active project tasks
  • Support senior technician on installation, startup, and troubleshooting with 90%+ task completion accuracy within first 60 days
  • Complete assigned work with < 5% rework or correction required
  • Take ownership of defined task scopes independently within 4-6 months
  • Completed assigned work on schedule 95%+ of the time with no delays caused to project timelines
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and coachability in a field-based environment 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute installation of control system components including wiring, panels, sensors, and devices
  • Perform point-to-point checkouts, calibration, and system validation in field environments
  • Execute assigned commissioning and startup tasks in data center environments
  • Diagnose basic hardware, wiring, and system issues and escalate when required
  • Complete assigned work scopes accurately and within defined timelines
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all work performed and test results
  • Read and interpret control drawings and schematics to execute field work
  • Coordinate directly with senior technicians, subcontractors, and project teams on-site
  • Follow all safety, site, and compliance requirements without exception
  • Build and demonstrate increasing proficiency in PLC/Ignition systems through hands-on execution 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Mechanical or electrical aptitude
  • Willingness and ability to learn PLC/Ignition systems
  • Ability to execute assigned work reliably in field-based environments
  • Willingness to be located within driving distance of Umatilla and travel as required 
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work environment: Field-based across active construction sites and operational data center environments 

  • Physical requirements

  • Standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical spaces 

  • Lifting tools and equipment (up to ~50 lbs.) 

  • Working in variable environmental conditions 

  • Schedule expectations:  

  • Travel required within PNW region 

  • May require extended or non-standard hours based on project demands 

The above pay range is Total Cash; a combination of base salary (dependent upon experience/Tech level) and additional bonus potential through internal programs (annual bonus, living expenses, profit sharing).
