Job description

LEAD ELECTRICIAN – GENERAC GENERATOR INSTALLATION


Generator Supercenter is hiring an experienced Lead Electrician to join our generator installation team in Virginia. IMPORTANT: Applicants must currently reside in Virginia and be legally authorized to work in the United States. This is a full-time, in-person field position. This is NOT a remote position, and relocation assistance is not provided.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The Lead Electrician will be responsible for the electrical portion of residential and light-commercial Generac standby generator installations. We are looking for an experienced electrician who can take ownership of an installation from start to finish, work independently, troubleshoot problems in the field, and consistently produce clean, professional work.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install Generac automatic standby generators and automatic transfer switches

• Install and wire automatic transfer switches (ATS)

• Perform electrical service modifications as required for generator installations

• Install panels, breakers, disconnects, conduit, wiring, grounding and bonding equipment

• Connect generators and prepare systems for startup and commissioning

• Evaluate existing electrical systems and determine the proper installation approach

• Troubleshoot electrical and generator-related problems

• Read electrical plans, one-line diagrams, manufacturer specifications and installation instructions • Ensure installations comply with the NEC, Virginia/local codes and manufacturer requirements

• Coordinate with project managers, installation crews, inspectors and homeowners

• Maintain clean and professional jobsites

• Lead and assist apprentices and electrical helpers

• Complete installations safely, correctly and efficiently with minimal supervision


REQUIREMENTS

• Must currently reside in Virginia

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

• Strong residential electrical experience REQUIRED

• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)

• Experience working with electrical services, panels, disconnects, grounding/bonding and conduit

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems independently

• Ability to complete high-quality electrical work without constant supervision

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

• Ability to perform the physical requirements of electrical construction work


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Standby generator installation experience

• Generac generator experience

• Automatic transfer switch installation experience

• Electrical service upgrade/modification experience

• Virginia electrical license or applicable electrical credentials
