Job description

BPL Services – Electrical Division

Now Hiring: Electrical Testing Technician (Levels 1, 2 & 3)

BPL Services Electrical Division is seeking Electrical Testing Technicians at Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 to support our growing medium-voltage cable testing and transformer testing operations. We are looking for safety-driven professionals committed to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.


Technician Levels

Level 1 – Electrical Testing Technician (Entry Level)

Responsibilities:

• Assist with medium-voltage cable testing and transformer testing under supervision

• Support testing activities including setup, breakdown, and safety grounding

• Perform basic tests such as:

• Insulation Resistance (IR)

• Basic VLF testing (under supervision)

• Collect test data and assist with documentation

• Follow all safety procedures, job briefings, and PPE requirements

Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of experience in electrical or industrial environments

• Basic understanding of electrical safety and testing principles

• Willingness to learn electrical testing standards and procedures

• Ability to work in field conditions and travel as required

• Valid Texas Driver’s License

Level 2 – Electrical Testing Technician (Intermediate)

Responsibilities:

• Independently perform medium-voltage cable testing, including:

• VLF testing

• Tan Delta testing

• Insulation Resistance (IR)

• Perform transformer testing and maintenance, including:

• Insulation Resistance (IR)

• Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)

• Winding Resistance testing

• Troubleshoot electrical systems and analyze test results

• Complete test reports with minimal supervision

• Ensure compliance with NETA, IEEE, and company safety standards

Qualifications:

• 2–3 years of experience in electrical testing or industrial electrical work

• Hands-on experience with MV testing equipment

• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and test procedures

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Valid Texas Driver’s License

Level 3 – Electrical Testing Technician (Senior / Lead)

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute advanced electrical testing and diagnostics

• Perform complete cable testing programs, including:

• VLF withstand testing

• Tan Delta diagnostics

• Partial Discharge testing (if applicable)

• Perform advanced transformer testing, including:

• Power Factor testing

• Bushing testing (C1 / C2)

• DGA oil sampling and analysis coordination

• Oil processing and filtration oversight

• Interpret complex test data and provide technical recommendations to clients

• Lead job briefings, enforce safety procedures, and mentor Level 1 & 2 technicians

• Review and approve test reports and documentation

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in electrical testing and diagnostics

• Advanced knowledge of MV cable and transformer testing standards

• Experience with NETA ATS / MTS, IEEE 400.2, and NFPA 70E

• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and represent BPL Services professionally

• Valid Texas Driver’s License
