About the Opportunity:
• Job Title: Designer/Drafter (entry level)
• Pay Rate Range: $26.97-$31.45/hr
• Location: Hudson, WI
• Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM
• Position Type: Temp to Hire
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Education & Experience: College degree/technical school certificate OR 3–6 months of related hands-on drafting/design experience.
Technical Software Skills:
• Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modeling) and AutoCAD (2D drafting).
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) or the ability to learn.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints (or willingness to learn).
• Industry Background: Metal fabrication, welding, or machine shop experience is a major plus.
General Skills:
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook).
• Strong mathematical aptitude and practical reasoning/problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments.
• Physical & Safety: Comfortable standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Drafting & Design: Create accurate mechanical drawings and 2D/3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD; prepare detailed component drawings from initial layout concepts.
• Production Prep & Job Packets: Prepare complete job packets for all production departments, including shop drawings, cut lists, and programming for flame-cut parts.
• Bill of Materials (BOM) & Sourcing: Research required materials for custom projects and compile accurate Bills of Materials.
• Prototyping & Collaboration: Assist in constructing prototypes and validating designs in close coordination with the Engineering and Purchasing teams.
• Engineering Calculations: Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and standard allowances when not explicitly stated.
• Documentation & Records: Organize, update, and maintain existing design records and drawing files.
