At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist I is an entry-level Human Resources role that will assist with tasks related to recruiting, benefits, compensation, payroll, employee relations, training, and special projects. The ability to ensure information is processed accurately as well as the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is a necessity for this role.
Primary Accountabilities
  • First point of contact for servicing questions from employees regarding common human resource policies and procedures, including routine benefits and 401K information.
  • Utilize the HRIS system (Workday) on a daily basis.
  • Develop and provide HR data such as: detailed employee information, turnover analysis, scorecard preparation, auditor requested information, etc.
  • Assist with dual control, quality assurance, and/or data entry of payroll data.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the LMS system within HRIS system.
  • Assist in coordination of workerโ€™s compensation and unemployment functions.
  • Assist in coordination of the FMLA benefit.
  • Assist in maintenance of job descriptions, job evaluations, develop grade assignments, and JVM maintenance (as needed).
  • Assists in maintaining the HR page of the intranet.
  • Responsible for answering questions from the โ€œHRโ€ email inbox.
  • Responsible for the management of employee records.
  • Assists monthly insurance invoice and COBRA reconciliation.
  • Assists in compliance-related activities.
  • Assists in drafting policies and procedures.
  • Assists with human resources related projects.
  • Assist in qualifying life events that result in benefit/payroll changes.
  • Participates in wage and benefit survey (as needed).
  • Assists with recruitment activities such as phone interviews, scheduling interviews, drafting offer letter (as needed).
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience (Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred).
  • Previous exposure to HRIS systems a plus.
  • 0-3 years of human resources/payroll experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
