What does an entry level document review attorney do?

An entry level document review attorney is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and categorizing large volumes of legal documents for relevance, privilege, and other key issues in litigation or investigations. Their primary tasks include identifying important information, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and assisting in the discovery process. This role often involves using specialized software to sort and tag documents and may serve as a starting point for attorneys seeking experience in litigation or corporate law. Document review attorneys typically work under the supervision of more senior attorneys and play a crucial role in the legal discovery process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level document review attorney?

To thrive as an Entry Level Document Review Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor degree, bar admission (in some jurisdictions), and a strong understanding of legal concepts and document analysis. Familiarity with e-discovery platforms like Relativity and Concordance, along with knowledge of document coding and privilege review systems, is typically required. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines are vital soft skills for success in this role. These skills and qualifications ensure accurate document review, compliance with legal standards, and effective support for litigation teams.
