Golf Course Maintenance LaborerPosition Description
POSITION SUMMARY

The Golf Course Laborer is an entry-level position responsible for general golf course and landscape maintenance duties. This role supports the overall playability and aesthetics of the golf course by executing basic tasks and learning safe operational practices under close supervision. This is the starting point for individuals interested in a career in turf management or course operations, offering exposure to tools, grounds keeping practices, and team collaboration.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • No prior experience required; landscaping or grounds keeping a plus.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Reliable, positive attitude, and able to work flexible shifts including weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the department.
  • Complies with company and regulatory safety policies.
  • Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reports equipment or site hazards immediately.
  • Participates in safety training.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists with day-to-day course setup and maintenance under supervision.
  • Uses hand tools and powered equipment (e.g., shovels, rakes, string trimmers, blowers, spreaders).
  • Maintains bunkers, trims landscape areas, spreads mulch or pine straw, and removes debris.
  • Learns to mow greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using walk-behind or riding mowers.
  • Assists with watering and basic irrigation maintenance.
  • Operates utility carts and helps transport materials.
  • Supports clean-up and cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Walking, driving, lifting 50 lbs., and performing repetitive motion.
  • Outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Standing, lifting, bending, kneeling, walking for extended periods.
  • Exposure to lawn equipment, hand tools, and motorized carts.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, grease, uneven terrain, and moving equipment.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Outdoors in heat and humidity, with exposure to lawn maintenance equipment, chemicals, and computers for recordkeeping and scheduling.

SCHEDULING

Golf maintenance operates 7 days/week. Early mornings and weekend work is required as part of a rotating crew schedule.
