Unitek Learning is looking for a creative, energetic Social Media Specialist who understands what makes people stop scrolling.

This is a hands-on, entry-level role for someone who enjoys creating content, finding great stories and bringing brands to life across social media. The Social Media Specialist will help execute social media strategies across Unitek Learning’s colleges and programs, working closely with Marketing, Communications, campus teams and other stakeholders.

From capturing student stories and campus events to creating Reels, TikToks and other short-form video content, this person will help showcase the people and experiences that make our organization unique.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging social content that builds awareness, grows audiences and encourages meaningful interaction across our social channels.
  • Capture and produce photos, short-form video, interviews and other multimedia content featuring students, faculty, alumni, employees and campus life.
  • Create and edit content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging platforms using tools such as CapCut.
  • Help execute social media strategies and campaigns in partnership with the broader Marketing and Communications teams.
  • Identify compelling stories and social media opportunities across our campuses, programs and communities.
  • Maintain social media content calendars and coordinate content around campaigns, events, milestones and organizational priorities.
  • Schedule and publish content and monitor comments, messages and other audience interactions.
  • Help ensure content reflects each institution’s identity while maintaining overall brand standards, voice and tone.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify creative opportunities to increase engagement, reach and relevance.
  • Track social media performance and use key metrics to understand what’s working and inform future content.
  • Collaborate with campus teams and social media ambassadors to generate authentic local content.
  • Help develop and share social media best practices with campus teams and ambassadors.
  • Coordinate with external agency partners as needed.
  • Attend campus and community events to capture and promote content in real time.
  • Travel periodically to campuses and events to capture content and tell stories firsthand.
Qualifications

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing, communications or a related field. Relevant internships, student work, freelance projects and portfolio experience are encouraged and will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube and how content and audiences differ across platforms.
  • Comfortable shooting and editing short-form video using a smartphone and tools such as CapCut.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt content for different audiences, brands and platforms.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and basic performance metrics.
  • Creative instincts and a strong interest in social media trends, storytelling and emerging platforms.
  • Comfortable approaching and interviewing students, faculty and employees to develop authentic content.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, deadlines and content needs simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and campuses.
  • Willingness to learn, experiment and bring new ideas to the team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
