Entry Level Digital Design focuses on creating digital content for websites, apps, and multimedia platforms, requiring skills in digital tools and user experience. Entry Level Graphic Design emphasizes visual communication through print and branding materials, often using Adobe Creative Suite. While both roles involve visual creativity, digital design is more tech-oriented, whereas graphic design centers on print and branding. Understanding these differences helps job seekers target the right roles based on their skills and career goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Digital Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Digital Designer, you need a solid grasp of design principles, basic graphic design skills, and proficiency with a relevant degree or coursework in design. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and basic knowledge of web design platforms like Figma or Sketch are typically expected. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help you collaborate effectively and translate ideas into visually compelling designs. These skills are essential for producing high-quality digital content and succeeding in fast-paced, collaborative design environments.

How does an entry level digital designer typically collaborate with other team members on projects?

Entry level digital designers often work closely with senior designers, developers, and marketing teams to bring creative concepts to life. They participate in brainstorming sessions, contribute to design reviews, and receive feedback to refine their work. Communication and openness to constructive criticism are key, as projects usually require revisions based on input from multiple stakeholders. This collaborative environment helps new designers learn industry standards and develop their skills in real-world scenarios.

How to start a career in digital design?

To start a career in digital design, develop skills in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, build a strong portfolio showcasing your work, and gain experience through internships or freelance projects. Learning about user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design can also enhance your prospects. Entry-level digital design roles often require a relevant degree or certification and a good understanding of design principles and tools.

Can I get into graphic design with no experience?

Entry level digital design roles often do not require prior professional experience, but having basic skills in design software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and a portfolio of personal or school projects can improve your chances. Many employers value a willingness to learn and a strong understanding of design principles, which can be gained through online courses or self-study. Building a portfolio and gaining familiarity with industry tools are key steps for beginners entering digital design.

What are entry level jobs in digital marketing?

Entry level digital marketing jobs include roles such as digital marketing assistant, social media coordinator, content creator, and SEO analyst. These positions typically require basic knowledge of marketing tools, social media platforms, and analytics, and often serve as starting points for careers in digital marketing.

Is AI replacing graphic designers?

AI tools are increasingly used in digital design to automate repetitive tasks and generate ideas, but they do not replace the creative and strategic skills of graphic designers. Entry-level digital designers often use AI-assisted software to enhance productivity, but human creativity, understanding of branding, and client communication remain essential in the field.

Build Your Skills + Build Exceptional Products
Axiom is looking for a motivated, hands-on individual who is eager to learn and grow in a manufacturing environment. As an Assistant CNC Operator, you'll work alongside experienced Operators and Programmers while helping produce the custom architectural, branded, and specialty products that Axiom is known for. This is an entry-level role designed for someone with curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic, not necessarily years of CNC experience.
From your first day, you'll be immersed in the manufacturing process, gaining practical experience with advanced CNC equipment, including 3-axis and multi-axis routers, with opportunities to cross-train on a laser and a press brake. You'll learn how projects move from design to finished product while developing valuable technical skills that can lead to long-term career growth.
Working closely with the CNC Manager and the broader production team, you'll help prepare materials, support machine setup and operation, inspect finished parts, and contribute to maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient shop environment. As your skills develop, you'll take on increasing responsibility and become an integral part of delivering high-quality work to our clients.
Success in this role comes from a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. You'll collaborate with programmers, project managers, and fellow production team members to ensure projects move smoothly through the manufacturing process. You'll learn how to verify materials, understand machining workflows, monitor machine performance, inspect finished components, package parts for downstream production, and help maintain the tools, equipment, and systems that keep the department running efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and seeing tangible results from their work every day. If you're looking for a role where you can develop technical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and be part of a collaborative team, we'd love to meet you.
We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow direction while taking ownership of their work. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, communicating effectively with teammates, and lifting and handling materials as required. A commitment to safety and a willingness to complete forklift certification training are essential.
While not required, experience with CNC machinery, routers, lasers, press brakes, fabrication equipment, quality control processes, or manufacturing environments will help you hit the ground running. Familiarity with machining principles, material properties, troubleshooting, or multi-axis equipment is also valuable.
At Axiom, quality, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement are at the core of what we do. In this role, you'll be measured by your ability to deliver accurate work on schedule, maintain an organized workspace, minimize rework, and contribute positively to the team culture. Most importantly, you'll be part of a company that values learning, initiative, and professional growth.
The wage for this position is $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
To learn more about who we are and the work we create, visit Axiom's website and Instagram. We design. We engineer. We build.
If this opportunity aligns with your interests and career goals, we'd love to hear from you. Send us your resume along with a brief introduction about yourself and what excites you about joining the team. A formal cover letter isn't required.
