About the Hillsboro Hops:
The Hillsboro Hops are a proud Minor League Baseball team, the High-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and a cornerstone of the Hillsboro community. After opening our brand-new, state-of-the-art ballpark, we're looking for passionate, driven team members who want to grow their careers in sports and be part of something truly special.
Position Summary:
The Business Development Coordinator will play a key role in driving ticket sales and revenue for the Hillsboro Hops. This entry-level role is perfect for someone with a passion for sports, sales, and building lasting community relationships. The position focuses heavily on outbound prospecting, cold calling, canvassing, and engaging new business, with a goal of filling our new stadium with fans for both baseball games and special events.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the business of baseball and set the foundation for a rewarding career in sports sales.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate new business leads through outbound calls, emails, and in-person canvassing.
  • Actively prospect small businesses, organizations, and community groups throughout the greater Portland metro area.
  • Sell full-season, partial-season, group ticket packages, and special event tickets.
  • Set and conduct face-to-face appointments with potential clients.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects and opportunities in CRM.
  • Assist with game day and non-game day ticket sales operations and service.
  • Support the planning and execution of client events, ballpark tours, and sales campaigns.
  • Meet or exceed weekly activity and sales goals as defined by the sales leadership team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Competitive drive and a desire to start a career in sports ticket sales.
  • Comfortable making cold calls and attending in-person networking opportunities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Game weeks can sometimes exceed over 60 hours.
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, or sports preferred but not required.

What You'll Gain:
  • Real-world sales training and professional development from a team invested in your growth.
  • Access to a network of professionals in the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Opportunities to advance within the Hops or the larger baseball community.
  • Being part of the team that opens and grows the first season in a new, state-of-the-art ballpark.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary $50,000/year; bonuses based on sales goals and team performance
  • Health and dental benefits after 90 days
  • Simple IRA and employer match after 6 months
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Complimentary tickets and staff perks

Organization Goals
The Hillsboro Hops commit to enhancing the quality of life for the residents and businesses of the Portland-Metro area by providing affordable family entertainment while developing baseball professionals.
This will be achieved by:
  • Taking a leadership role in the community
  • Operating a fiscally responsible and sustainable business
  • Maintaining reasonable prices
  • Providing unique and memorable experiences

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
Job Questions:
  1. Do you reside within Hillsboro and/or the greater Portland Metro area?
  2. Are you willing to work nights, weekends and holidays?
