Location:

2120 Falls Mills Road - Bluefield, Virginia 24605

Position Summary:

1st Shift Monday-Friday

Responsible to inspect, diagnose and perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of diesel semi-trucks and trailers.

Maintains adherence to company safety standards and ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Assist in developing the skills of less experienced team members by offering coaching and technical support.

What You'll Do:

  • Assesses the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance is completed on schedule
  • Meets with supervisor/lead to discuss work orders and priorities, proactively identifying any issues or conditions which might affect the operation of the equipment
  • Utilizes maintenance systems to ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work performed
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulations and laws within assigned areas (i.e. DOT) to ensure shop compliance
  • Prepares and/or completes DOT inspections and related paperwork accurately and timely
  • Effectively collaborates with other departments as appropriate

What You'll Need:

  • High school or equivalent (GED) (Required)
  • Having at least 6+ years of working experience in a related field
  • Valid Driver's License (required)
  • Must provide and maintain essential mechanic tools and toolbox for daily tasks
  • Required to complete SpartanNash certification for safe driving skills for material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers (training provided)

Tractor:

  • Diagnose engine performance issues
  • Diagnose electrical and electronic system faults
  • Repair and replace air brake components
  • Replace starters, alternators, batteries
  • Diagnose and repair cooling systems
  • Diagnose and repair ABS systems
  • Repair exhaust aftertreatment systems (DPF, SCR, DEF)
  • Diagnose driveline and vibration issues
  • Perform DOT inspections on tractors
  • Perform troubleshooting with diagnostic software
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation.
  • Service fifth wheels
  • Mentor entry level technicians

Trailer:

  • Diagnose and repair trailer ABS systems
  • Replace caliper assemblies and braking components
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical system failures
  • Repair trailer suspension and axle assemblies
  • Repair and replace landing gear assemblies
  • Diagnose and repair liftgate hydraulic systems
  • Perform DOT inspections
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation.
  • Mentor entry level technicians

While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
