Job description

Mangrove Lithium,a Canadian cleantech companylocatedin Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, is focused on the commercial development of novel electrochemical technology capable ofrefining lithium from awidevariety of sources. Our breakthrough Lithium refining technologyseeksto unlock a battery powered, clean energy future.The company recently attracted funding through the Canada Growth Fund, Breakthrough Energy, BMWiVentures, and BDC Capitalandis working towards the deployment of afirst-of-its-kindcommercial plant.

Position

Mangrove is seeking an exceptional individual to play a key role in our multidisciplinary engineering team reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer (P. Eng) will work with engineering and management to support the mechanical development and installation of chemical process plant designs, and contribute to engineering studies for future, large-scale, projects. A key responsibility of the role will include assisting with the build-out and support of our first-of-its-kindcommercial plant.

The broad scope of this role encompasses the design and layoutof various aspects ofnew chemical process plant infrastructure. You will conceptualize and implement plant improvements and designs based on input from the process, electrical, and management teams, support the team in reviewing documentation,participatein brainstorming and review meetings, liaise with stakeholders to further refine plant characteristics, and help develop and manage documentation for the Projects and Engineering department.

This is an in-person role which will require on-site presence at our Delta, BC facility.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Work with EPCs, partners, and internal team to develop and implement plant mechanical designs and improvements for our first commercial plant.
  • Assist in guiding, reviewing, and managing building improvements required prior to equipment installation.
  • Own the relationship with operations and contractors to support/troubleshoot issues from conception through to commissioning.
  • Prepare specificationsrequiredfor third party fabrication, liaise with vendors and contractors to ensuresuccessful andtimelycompletion of work.
  • Maintain project records and provide comprehensive project updates.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Qualificationsand experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineeringor a relatedfield.
  • 3-7years of industrial experienceand strong interest to workin R&D and productdevelopment environment.
  • Strong co-op experience within relevant field.
  • Experience with drafting and modifying 2D AutoCAD files
  • Familiarity with use of 3D plant modelling software.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analysis, andcreativeproblem-solving.
  • Familiaritywith industrial instrumentation is desired.
  • Be a registered professional with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (P.Eng.) or have the ability to readily become one.
  • Basic understanding of electrochemistrywould bean asset.
  • Self-motivated, proactive,flexible,and passionate about learning.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of scientists and engineers.
