Position Summary:

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems. This role involves working on more advanced projects compared to entry-level positions and requires a deeper understanding of software engineering principles. In this role you will also mentor other less experienced engineers.

$83,670.00 to $161,815.00 (NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$76,064 to $147,104 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$68,457 to $132,394 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

In CA: Typical hiring range is $110,468.25 to $153,428.13  

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Write high-quality code for medium-complexity scenarios with good test coverage.
  • Review and translate product requirements into robust designs to ensure high-quality applications that are modular, configurable, maximize reuse, and are fast, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Assist with any application system support needs.
  • Participate in design and code reviews of applications to ensure best practices, adherence to Mercury standards, and high quality.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.

Education: 

Min: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science.

Skills:

Minimum:

  • Experienced in programming in an one or more industry-standard language (e.g., Java, Python, GoLang, C++, JavaScript).
  • Experienced in Leveraging various Data Structures, Algorithms and Design Patterns.
  • Experienced in relational databases, NoSql and caching solutions. 
  • Knowledge of APIs using modern protocols like Rest and gRPC. 
  • Knowledge of Message queuing, data streaming, workflow and integration frameworks (like Apache Kafka, apache Nifi, Amazon SQS, MS  MQ, Apace Camel etc.).
  • Knowledge of Micro Services Arcitecture.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. 
  • Knowledge of Leveraging DevSecOps to Improve Engineering Efficiency.
  • Experienced in Designing and implementing high quality Applications that are modular, configurable, maximize reuse, are fast, effective, user friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable. 
  • Ability to Collaborate and Influence other teams to address impedements and deliver desired resuls.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of leveraging DevSecOps to improve engineering efficiency.
