Description
Position Summary: Evaluates temperature accuracy of mineral insulated and bare wire thermocouples, RTD probes, and temperature measurement systems through the utilization of calibration fluid baths and furnaces. Compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs temperature conformance testing of thermocouple probes, RTD probes, and temperature systems in accordance with Omega procedures as well as internationally recognized Standards.
• Sets up different computer controlled automated temperature calibration systems to complete all high temperature calibration testing in multiple furnaces on a daily basis.
• Utilizes conversion tables to convert raw temperature output data into degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit from both manual and automation tests and enters all pertinent mi-cable thermocouple production temperature calibration data into databases.
• Completes test documentation for both mi-cable and bare wire thermocouple testing and issues these to the appropriate departments.
• Conducts temperature calibrations on customer owned temperature sensors as well as temperature systems and completes all necessary documentation in accordance with Omega's ISO procedures.
• Recognizes and troubleshoots abnormal calibration results by utilizing trend data from previous calibrations as well as visual inspections of the tested thermocouple probes.
• Confers with management, engineering, and production to determine adherence to quality and reliability standards.
• Practices good housekeeping and safety procedures and adheres to all company policies.
Requirements
Abilities/Skills Required:
• Ability to understand equipment manuals associated with temperature measurement devices in order to conduct system calibrations.
• Knowledge and application of temperature measurement equipment such as DMM's, Precision thermometers, and auto thermocouple calibration equipment
• PC software knowledge ( Microsoft Office Suite ) Proficiency and accuracy at data entry is imperative.
• Ability to complete assignments and duties with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize workload as well as the ability to change priorities with little prior notification to satisfy production and customer needs.
• Ability to interpret work orders, Engineering Instructions (EI's), Omega Sketches (OSK's), etc
Physical Demands: The physical demands include occasionally being able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or sit for extended periods of time, able to lean and have dexterity to handle tools and parts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position also requires occasionally stooping and kneeling. Need ability to hear and be aware of surrounding area. Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Requirements:
• 2+ years QA experience.
• Associates Degree or higher in a related field.
